The aim of the workshop is to provide a comprehensive theoretical and hands on practical experience on LaTeX and MATLAB to the beginners. LaTeX is high quality typesetting system: it includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. MATLAB (MATrix LABoratory) is a special purpose computer program organized to perform matrix mathematics and scientific calculations. MATLAB is most popular software package for numerical computation. The targeted audience includes research scholars, engineers, people from academia and industries- who rely on publishing the high quality research articles, textbook chapters, journals, conference’s proceedings, etc.
Introduction to LaTeX-why LaTeX? Basics of LaTeX Set-up and compiling options—installing, packages, environment; basic document creation-creating basic document-change the class (article, report, book, etc); section, subsection and chapters; Paragraph, Subparagraph; generating table of contents; Stared version of the command; title creation formatting the document-special characters-dashes and hyphens-spacing and newline-footnote formatting (bold, italic, underline, emph)-itemize and enumerate-flush left and right-writing abstract; Mathematical environment; references and cross references citations. Advanced Topic-tables, mathematical equations; Greek letters-equation numbering-vectors; Graphics-inserting image-giving caption and label, referencing-create references; introduction to beamer-brief introduction to beamer-creating presentations using beamer; writing synopsis and thesis using LaTeX Software Software.
History, its Component, environment, Installation, libraries & packages, Window, workspace, current directory, command, Command files, programs, Basic operations: arithmetic operations, creating variables, value labeling, functions, vectors, matrices & arrays, factors, data frame, indexing, conditional selection, subset & transform, sorting.
Importing data from software, Exporting, data entry, looping, merging and reshaping, elements, Graph and plots, Control statements, Loop statement, mathematics tool, Mathematics model, Data manipulation, Statistical analysis and online help.
Probability and Distribution
Random sampling, probability calculation, discrete distributions, continuous distributions, build in distributions in MATLAB
Other distributions and their applications: Binomial, Multinomial, Poisson, Exponential, Gamma, Beta, Negative Binomial, Log-normal
Descriptive Statistics
Calculating Mean, standard deviation, Standardization to unit standard deviation, geometric mean displaying Normal curve, generating tables using MATLAB
Testing Hypothesis: Parametric tests
Independent t test, paired t test, Chi-square distribution, Peasron Chi-Square test, Fisher F distribution, etc.
The workshop will be held through Cisco Webex. All the sessions will be hands on practical and implementation based. Recording and presented contents will be provided to each registered participant. Timing of each session will be 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM each. Limited seats are available. Certificate to each registered participant will be given after attending successfully.
